Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of requests for help does the Murray Grey Foundation Receive?
Besides requests to help active serving Military or Veteran families save their homes from foreclosure, the vast majority are from those requesting relatively small amounts for emergency financial support- the most requested are support for food, clothing, transportation, payment of utilities to avoid shut-off, insurance and childcare.
How do you fundraise to help the families?
We use volunteers and have created several programs to help the fundraising. Phone calling, (mostly those we have helped before) is one source, and we have other donation programs that anyone can participate in. Additionally, we were selected by a large national entertainment based not- for-profit that is doing celebrity based fundraising on our behalf. The need and requests we receive far exceed our current capability to satisfy them, so we are continually increasing our fundraising efforts.
Doesn't the VA help soldiers?
Yes, VA is an excellent source of help to the soldiers; however, there are certain situations or families that the VA cannot help. At times, a family's needs may not conform to the VA requirements or resources but they still need help!
Doesn't the government give the soldiers everything they need?
The US Government helps families indeed. However, there are certain gaps that need to be filled, especially when it comes to personal financial matters regarding their home. This is where The Murray Grey Foundation gets involved; particularly in providing financial assistance.
